Eurosport shoots first ever 360° VR film during a competitive cycling race

Eurosport have released the first ever 360° VR film shot during a competitive cycling race.

The footage was captured on South African National Champion Jaco Venter’s Dimension Data bike during stage 10 of the 2016 La Vuelta a Espana. The video gives fans a unique view from inside the peloton as well as a fascinating insight into the tactics used by professional cyclists competing in a Grand Tour.

Eurosport released a short excerpt – incorporating in-race stats and updated positions – on their Facebook page, with the full experience available on the Eurosport Virtual Reality app.

The network created the app in order to differentiate its coverage from rivals and offer viewers a unique perspective. Having already produced captivating content from the Alpine Skiing World Cup and Roland Garros, Eurosport creating another stunning video should come as no surprise.

The Eurosport VR app is available on iOS, Android and can be used with Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR and Google Cardboard.
