FC Barcelona unveil the New Camp Nou

Football giant FC Barcelona has officially presented the architectural project of the New Camp Nou, built in conjunction with architects Nikken Sekkei (Japanese) and Pascual-Ausió (Spanish).

Starting this summer, the renovation of the Camp Nou will last at least four years and is expected to finish ahead of the 2020/2021 season. After building, the stadium will have a capacity of 105,000 spectators with hi-tech facilities and services.

FC Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu called this unveiling “a historic day for the day club”, as the New Camp Nou would be the “best stadium in the world”.

“The New Camp Nou will be open, attractive and a new icon for Barcelona. Everyone wins with this new stadium,” he said.

UEFA chooses Hawk-Eye for its Goal Line Technology at the Euros

After announcing the introduction of the Goal-Line Technology (GTL) to its tournaments including the 2016 Euros in France, UEFA has chosen Hawk-Eye technology to provide the tech to all 10 stadiums in France this summer.

Developed in the UK, Hawk-Eye is already present in European football. Some leagues including the Serie A, Bundesliga and Premier League also currently use the company’s system and it was used at the FIFA 2015 Women’s World Cup in Canada.

Under the deal, Hawk-Eye will install seven cameras each goal to detect if the ball has crossed the line. In this case, a signal will then be sent to the referee’s watch.

Ahead of the International Champions Cup (July 23rd- August 13th), Liverpool FC, which will be involved in the North American part of the event, has unveiled a fun video to announce that its coming to California.

As a tribute to Hollywood, LFC manager Jurgen Klopp shares some of the greatest quotes from blockbusters with some of the team members. Some of the movies include Taxi Driver or The Godfather, in what is a genuinely funny segment.

Liverpool FC will start the tournament against Chelsea (July 27), followed by AC Milan (July 30) which will both be played in California, before finishing the competition against FC Barcelona (August 6).
