There’s a first time for everything – a sponsor on a NBA top

After launching its new campaign featuring James Harden yesterday, Adidas has unveiled its NBA All-Star Game 2016 kits.

As  we announced in one of our previous Weekly Wash-Ups, KIA have officially made history by becoming the first brand present on NBA shirts. The best players of the Eastern Conference will take on the West’s best and KIA will be in the thick of it with their logo on their left chest during the February 14 fixture.

The deal looks to be one of the “Trojan Horse” kind for KIA who hasn’t disguised their ambition to be on the shirts of all NBA teams in the next few months.

La Liga sells their TV rights for €2.65 billion

La Liga has sold two domestic media rights packages of the first and second divisions (including the Copa del Rey) for the period of 2016 to 2019 in a deal worth approximately €2.5 million (£2 billion).

In the first and second round of deals, Telefonica (Movistar) received the first choice game in both the first and second division which is worth approximately €750 million.

In the same rounds, Mediapro received eight first division games each round and some cup games for €1,9 billion. With eight TV rights packages still to be sold, all broadcast deals will last three seasons.

To put the deals into context, in the same period, the Premier League is set to bank around €7 billion, so a difference of more than €4 billion (around £3 billion).

Bundesliga clubs to get a sleeve sponsor

After the agreement of a sock sponsor in La Liga during the week, the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) will allow Bundesliga clubs to sell their sleeve shirts to sponsors from summer 2017.

In 2013, Hermes and the German league signed an agreement which saw the company’s logo on the left sleeve of all 36 Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 clubs.

From the 2016-17 season, all teams will be able to agree individual sponsorship deals for their sleeve.
