Vans turn 50

To celebrate turning 50 this year, Californian skateboard brand Vans is organising a series of events across the world from 16 March through to March 19.

Ten cities will welcome the “House of Vans” over the three days including London, Hong Kong, Mexico City and Toronto. Fans in each city will be treated to concerts including Nas in Brooklyn or The Killers in Mexico City as well as be able to participate in workshops like shoe creation. “Off The Wall” since 1966, Vans will spend the four days demonstrating teaching fans about the history of the brand.

Yahoo launches an eSports section

Tech company Yahoo, has unveiled a new section on the platform called “Yahoo eSports“.

In a development that indicates the rapidly emerging industry of eSports, the section will include articles and videos on the competitive gaming industry as well as event calendars and gaming statistics. It will also integrate a forum system so that fans can connect and engage with each other.

Vice President of Yahoo Sports Media Bob Condor said that the platform hoped that this sechopes to reach a new audience covering this new area.

“We’re approaching our coverage of eSports with the same tenacity and professionalism we always have with Yahoo Sport. Coupled with our experience in building great products, we’ve gone out and assembled an experienced content team that will cover esports from every angle,” he said.

IMG gets Chinese Super League TV rights

Global sports company IMG (International Management Group) has secured the global Chinese Super League (CSL) TV rights for the next two years, starting today with the beginning of the season 2016.

After welcoming a collection of famous players from Europe in the last transfer window including Jackson Martinez (Atlético de Madrid), Ramires (Chelsea) and Ezequiel Lavezzi (PSG), overnight CSL became one the biggest sports competitions in Asia.

Senior Vice-President and Head of Football at IMG Media, Michael Mellor said that its the best time to invest in the CSL.

“The CSL is one of the new hot properties in league football following their recent investment. We are delighted to be helping them expand international coverage and have already received strong interest in a number of territories including in the UK, Europe, Brazil, the Middle East and Asia” he said.

Manchester United extend deal with Yanmar

Manchester United and one Japanese leader in engine manufacturing Yanmar, have announced the extension in their global partnership, signed in 2012.

Under this deal, Yanmar becomes United’s global partner and also club’s first Agricultural Vehicles Partner. To celebrate the extension, the company unveiled its first United and Yanmar dual-branded tractor at an event in Bangkok where the company has contributed to the development of agriculture, in the presence of United ambassador, Dwight Yorke.

United Group Managing Director, Richard Arnold, is delighted to continue working with Yanmar in the future.

“Since launching our partnership four years ago, Yanmar has worked with the club to expose its brand further in new sectors and to new audiences. Like United, Yanmar is an industry leader and we are proud to be associated with a company that makes such a significant contribution to the global economy through its manufacturing expertise,” he said.
