Fox Sports to stream basketball tournament in Virtual Reality

After successfully using Virtual Reality (VR) to broadcast a Dutch league game on Saturday, Fox Sports will give it another go, this time on the court.

College basketball fans will be able to watch the Big East men’s basketball tournament “live” through Virtual Reality, the second year the network has used VR for the tournament. Fox Sports will partner with LiveLike, a New York-based company that has worked with Fox in the past.

Premier League teams celebrate Pancake Day

Since Tuesday was Pancake Day, a couple of Premier League clubs used their social media accounts to celebrate. Whether it was pancakes that looked like players, or a pancake-making contest, these PL teams made it clear they like their flapjacks.

Anthony Joshua becomes ambassador for Sky

IBF World Heavyweight champion boxer Anthony Joshua and Sky announced Monday that Joshua has become a Sky Ambassador. The partnership will let Joshua play a key part in getting more people involved in Sky Academy initiatives.

“Sky have been with me since the start of my professional career,” Joshua said. “They’ve followed me every step of the way and I am pleased to be joining such a great and ambitious organisation.”

Ronaldo saves Real Madrid against Las Palmas

With his club down two goals and time running out, Cristiano Ronaldo scored on a penalty kick in the 86th minute, then headed in the equalizer in the 89th to give Real Madrid a draw against Las Palmas. What better way to celebrate this wild finish than by comparing it to the Oscar’s unpredictable ending earlier this week? 

Twitter announces partnership with ESL, Dreamhack

Twitter has partnered with eSports companies ESL and DreamHack to bring eSports to a larger platform, as the social networking service will be live streaming over 1,500 hours of eSports tournaments globally throughout 2017.

“Esports is growing at a rapid pace and we see this collaboration as a way to tap into the engaged audience of gamers that are already using Twitter as a primary source of content,” said Twitter COO Anthony Noto.

Swedish women’s football team to use empowering tweets instead of team names

Sweden’s national women’s football team are getting rid of team names on the back of their jerseys, replacing them with motivational tweets in order to inspire others.

It’s fitting after Sweden defeated Team USA at the Rio Olympics and USA goalkeeper Hope Solo called the Swedish team “a bunch of cowards.” This way, the Swedes can motivated young girls watching around the globe.

“The national team shirt is an important and proud symbol for us and I think it’s awesome that through it … we can show that everything is possible,” Captain Lotta Schelin said.
